Play Protect, unknown sources, and a checklist before every install

Install is a security decision
Every new app expands your attack surface. Treat installation like clicking a link: slow down, verify source, skim permissions, and keep Play Protect on. A 30-second checklist prevents most Android regrets.
1. Before You Tap Install

2. Play Protect & Updates
Google Play Protect scans apps and can warn about harmful behavior. Keep it enabled. Also enable automatic updates for apps you trust—security fixes often arrive as quiet version bumps. Avoid “APK mirror” sites unless you fully understand signing and hashes. Mirror ≠ safety.
Uninstall ruthlessly
Apps you no longer use still hold permissions and receive network access. Remove them.
