Noise vs targeted, extra vendors named — still no abuse queries, still no /24.

GreyNoise https://www.greynoise.io/ plus BinaryEdge, ZoomEye, SecurityTrails named. Hygiene. GATE.

Opening

Most internet noise is untargeted scanning. Hygiene is refusing to add your own noise — or someone else's misery.

GreyNoise classifies much internet scanning as noisy background versus something that looks more directed. BinaryEdge is named as another commercial scan vendor. ZoomEye exists; we still will not teach abuse. SecurityTrails is named for DNS history on assets YOU own. Query hygiene is the real skill: no webcam dorks, no default passwords, no anonymous FTP kits, no scrape, no classmate IPs. Original Cyberlium. STOP if router. Next: Lab — Document YOUR Public IP Story.

1. GreyNoise is a lens on scanners, not a loot crate

https://www.greynoise.io/ helps teams ask whether a source IP is a known noisy scanner. That is useful when YOU defend a network you operate. It is not a reason to scan back. It is not a webcam class.

BinaryEdge is named so you recognize another logo. Same ethics: YOUR assets, official products, no hunting kits. SecurityTrails: YOUR domain history if you already own the domain from Module 5 — still not a corp mass-enum.

2. Do not “verify” GreyNoise by scanning the planet

You will not nmap random clouds to see if GreyNoise notices you. You will not bind 0.0.0.0 and hope a scanner finds the toy. Teaching stays on

If YOU administer a public listener, closing it on gear you own is the fix. Hitting it with hydra “to confirm Shodan” is still hydra.

3. ZoomEye named, abuse not taught

Students will see ZoomEye in blog spam. Cyberlium's line: it exists; we will not provide webcam, ICS, or default-password recipes there or anywhere. If your job later has a licensed seat and written RoE, that is a different contract than this academy.

Stalking someone's home WAN because GreyNoise or Shodan listed it is still stalking.

4. What you ship: GreyNoise/BinaryEdge/ZoomEye/SecurityTrails named plus hygiene

Official GreyNoise URL. Other vendors named without abuse queries. No /24, no scrape, no webcam dorks. chmod 600. SAFE

5. What you record before the next lesson

Date. Hygiene list written. DEMO GATE. File t12-m08-l03-hygiene.txt.

6. Wrong vs right: strangers vs identifiers YOU own

Worked failure — same OSINT word, opposite target. Right never needs a classmate or a dump site.

  • Wrong

ZoomEye webcam dorks. BinaryEdge as a hunting kit. nmap back at a GreyNoise-tagged IP.

  • Right

Name vendors. Keep queries on YOUR assets. Next: Lab — Document YOUR Public IP Story.

Mission: write query hygiene you can recite

1) / STOP if router. 2) Bookmark GreyNoise. 3) Write refused classes: webcam dorks, default passwords, anonymous FTP kits, scrape, /24 nmap, stalking. Never scan back. Never bind 0.0.0.0.

Stuck? Ask Cyberlium AI Mentor

If a lab asks you to “find cameras near campus,” that is not Cyberlium — refuse it.
