No PoC Required

Cyberlium VA stops at verified findings and NVD literacy — no exploit PoCs on strangers or $LAB_HOST abuse.

No PoC Required
00:00/03:41

Visual · no_poc_required

No PoC required. Patch/compensate literacy. $LAB_HOST only. Original Cyberlium.

Analysts ship patch priorities — not Metasploit reels on classmates.

Professional VA triage does not require proving every finding with exploitation — especially on production. Verification uses version evidence, vendor confirmation, safe checks, and sometimes staged lab reproduction on owned assets under RoE. Cyberlium explicitly excludes exploit PoCs: your credit comes from CVE/NVD reading, applicability notes, and remediation recommendations on $LAB_HOST — not shells on neighbors. You will NOT run public exploit code against café Wi-Fi, classmate VMs, or live shops 'because NVD linked it.' Next: CVE Lab.

1. Verification without weaponization

Evidence chain: scanner plugin + version banner or auth package list + NVD CPE match + vendor fixed version → recommend patch. Safe verification may include re-scan after patch on $LAB_HOST — not RCE demo.

Pentest engagements may prove impact under contract — Topic 18 VA does not require that depth.

Command guide

Try these commands — Verification without weaponization

═══ LINUX / KALI (Penetration Testing & Service Audit) ═══

Port scan and service banner grabbing against authorized target

Command — copy this

nmap -sV -sC -Pn -T4 -p 21,22,80,443,445,3389 ${LAB_HOST:-127.0.0.1}

Enumerate web directories and hidden endpoints

Command — copy this

gobuster dir -u http://${LAB_HOST:-127.0.0.1} -w /usr/share/wordlists/dirb/common.txt -q -t 20 2>/dev/null || head -5 /etc/hosts

Metasploit framework module inspection (Safe lab syntax)

Command — copy this

msfconsole -q -x "use auxiliary/scanner/portscan/tcp; set RHOSTS 127.0.0.1; set PORTS 80,443; run; exit" 2>/dev/null || echo "Run in Kali msfconsole"

═══ WINDOWS (Audit Target) ═══ Enumerate open listening ports with process mappings

Command — copy this

netstat -ano | findstr /i "LISTENING"

Primary tools to practice this lesson: curl, python3. Reference sites: Exploit-DB literacy (https://www.exploit-db.com/); CISA KEV (https://www.cisa.gov/known-exploited-vulnerabilities-catalog). Run every command in the box — install first, then the usage lines — only on YOUR lab / program scope.

2. When labs mention 'verify safely'

Module 7 expands false positives and safe checks. Here: refuse exploit tutorials aimed at strangers; rewrite to patch $LAB_HOST lab service or document compensating control.

Sharing PoC scripts in class violates ethics and often law — analysts share ticket numbers and KB links instead.

3. Ship remediation voice

For your $LAB_HOST CVE note add: recommended fix = vendor patch X or disable unused service; PoC = not required for Cyberlium Module 5.

Next: CVE Lab merges Module 5 artifacts. Then CVSS Scoring in Module 6.

4. What you ship: no-PoC remediation statement for $LAB_HOST CVE

Patch/compensate recommendation. Explicit: PoC not required. $LAB_HOST only. chmod 600.

5. What you record before the next lesson

Date. Remediation without PoC for $LAB_HOST CVE. File t18-m05-l03-no-poc-required.txt chmod 600.

6. Wrong vs right: stranger nets vs YOUR lab assets

Worked failure — same MSF word, opposite target. Right never needs a café Wi-Fi or classmate laptop.

  • Wrong: Metasploit module on classmate host 'to verify CRITICAL.' Demand PoC video for quiz credit.
  • Right: Document patch recommendation without exploit steps. Next: CVE Lab.
Hands-on Exercise

Mission: remediation without PoC

1) Add vendor patch or compensate action to CVE note. 2) Write 'PoC not required — VA literacy complete.' 3) Plan re-scan $LAB_HOST after patch if applicable. Never exploit strangers for verification.

Stuck? Ask Cyberlium AI Mentor

Re-scan after patch on $LAB_HOST is valid verification — shells are not.
