Hands-on practice on systems and accounts YOU own.

Opening

Where to Report

This lesson is part of Scam & Phishing Protection → Reporting & Evidence Habits. You learn defensive, professional habits: practice only on your devices, VMs, and $HOME/cyberlium-lab. Never scan, phish, or probe systems you do not own and are not explicitly authorized to test.

1. What you will understand

Professionals treat "Where to Report" as a mechanism, not a buzzword. Read carefully, then run the commands on your own machine. If a command fails on your OS, note why — WSL, Kali, macOS, and Windows differ — and use the equivalent from Settings or PowerShell.

2. How defenders use this

You are training toward junior security work: clear notes, least privilege, verified updates, and ethical scope. Copyable commands below stay inside your lab folder or documentation hosts like example.com / 127.0.0.1.

3. Wrong vs right

Keep the blast radius tiny:

  • Wrong

Run random scripts from the internet as root, scan strangers, or reuse live passwords in lab files.

  • Right

Use $HOME/cyberlium-lab, prefer 127.0.0.1 / example.com, chmod 600 notes, and stop when scope is unclear.

4. Practical: terminal practice

Run these on YOUR Linux / Kali / macOS terminal (or PowerShell equivalents). Create the lab folder first if needed.

Command guide

Terminal practice (YOUR machine / cyberlium-lab only)

Command — copy this

mkdir -p "$HOME/cyberlium-lab"

Mission

Complete the practice above, then write one sentence in $HOME/cyberlium-lab about what you observed for: Where to Report.

Stuck? Ask Cyberlium AI Mentor

Ask for a hint — not a full answer. Stay inside ethical scope.

Next: What Evidence to Keep. Keep building the habit: own machine, clear notes, professional ethics.
